| One of the things that letterboxers love to find out on the moors is a hand cut stamp. Every stamp is original is the way it has been cut and no one will have a stamp the same as you! I used to make polymer stamps using a stamp making kit but found that after a short time in a wet box the stamp curls up and is very often unusable causing the letterbox to become litter! Hand carved stamps tend to last much longer especially after being exposed to the elements of Dartmoor. I remember not long ago a letterboxer found one of my hand carved stamps up on Crow Tor after it sat there for over ten years! The stamp is still as good as the day it went out and has now been placed on the moors for hopefully a further ten years. For those of you who receive our clues you will know of the quality of my carvings and will understand the hours of fine millimetre cutting it takes to produce one for a customer. As for the charge, this obviously depends on how much needs carving and the detail required but all you are looking at is around £5. The type of images you will need to find for your design will be ‘line art’. So basically lined drawings without shade, you have to remember this will be carved by hand, but to show you the kind of thing I carve please see the pictures below and click them to enlarge. Send me an email with your image and I will let you know if I can carve it for you. I will glue on a basic flat perspex backing for free unless you specify otherwise Payment will be via PayPal. |
